The Ark Project workbook for individual students provides all of the resources a student will need to plan, develop, and implement a service-learning project focused on animal welfare in the year leading up to their b’nai mitzvah. The workbook includes a variety of resources:
Guidelines for choosing a project that’s both meaningful to the student and beneficial for animals
Worksheets for designing one’s project, including how to choose an organization with which to volunteer
A series of chapters on different topics related to animal welfare that will help students explore these issues as they pertain to Jewish text, thought, and tradition
Reflection activities to support students in synthesizing all aspects of their experience
A framework to help students consider “what’s next” and how they can continue their commitment to this project beyond their bar/bat mitzvah
